Could you recount the moment when you realized your passion for art and DIYs could evolve into a thriving business? What initial steps did you take to transition from hobbyist to entrepreneur?
“When I began making regular sales & became a content creator for a couple of brands, including yourselves, I realized that I had something special in my hobby & realized I could take it to a full-time business. Also, during lockdown, I was made redundant from my job, so it forced me to take it seriously & really make a good go of it. The initial steps I took to transition were making sure that I took professional photos, & selling on all platforms, especially Etsy.”
Looking back, what was your initial impression when you first experimented with Dixie Belle products? What specific attributes or features of their offerings convinced you that they were the perfect fit for your creative pursuits?
“Loved it. I had tried a few paints that were great but didn’t offer the bright colors that Dixie Belle did. I fell in love immediately! The range of colors is amazing & it is such an easy, forgiving paint to use, due to how well it blends & self-leveling properties.”

“I love the glazes. They can completely transform a look. Plus, they are so versatile in that they can be watered down, or added to your paint to create different effects… The paints themselves are a must-have item too. Silk is by far the easiest Mineral Paint I have used. The colors are fab & it applies like butter. The Chalk Mineral Paint Line for all the reasons I mentioned before and lastly, the Terra Clay Paint line because it is a fun and artistic medium to use!!”
Let’s delve into the realm of creativity and inspiration! What sparks your imagination when embarking on a new project? Do you have any unique rituals or practices that you rely on to ignite your creative spark before diving into a painting or refurbishing endeavor?
“Sometimes it depends on the piece, but often I take inspiration from old “stuff”. I’m a big history nerd & I enjoy walking around old English Manor houses, so I take a lot of inspiration from there. Also, when I’m walking around a city I’m always sure to look up, because that is usually where all the history is! It is fun to look at things & study how they have weathered & aged. I then take photos of the things that inspire me for future reference for furniture. Lastly, I also sometimes delve into Pinterest and look at images of houses from around the world. Chinoiserie is my favorite right now.”
