Every now and then I’ll do a furniture makeover that surprises me.
Floral transfers for furniture are becoming more and more popular so I’m embracing the trend.
Dixie Belle Paint Products:
- White Lightning
- BOSS
- Vintage Duck Egg
- Sand Bar
- Coffee Bean
- Best Dang Wax in Brown
- Dixie Belle Synthetic Brush
- Clear Coat in Satin
- Prima Transfer
How To:
First, I cleaned the piece really well with White Lightning.
For this finish, you will need two main colors of paint. Vintage Duck Egg and Sand Bar. Allow the first color to dry completely before applying over the second color.
Once you have applied the floral transfer to your project, use a 220 grit sandpaper to distress the edges or other areas depending on the look you want.
I recreated the background look of the floral transfer on the wood by using a dry brush method with Vintage Duck Egg and Coffee Bean chalk mineral paint.
Best Dang Wax in Brown was added over the painted areas as well as slightly overlapping the floral transfer to create a cohesive look.
Because the floral transfer will need to be sealed, I waited 2 days for the wax to completely dry.
Since the Dixie Belle wax is a water-based product, I was able to add the Dixie Belle Clear Coat in Satin over the floral transfer as well as the waxed furniture.
