Hi there!
So, I did a thing. Never having painted on canvas before (at least not without wine, my girlfriends, and a paint instructor), I decided to take the plunge and try something new.
I have always wanted to try my hand at canvas painting but something held me back. It wasn’t until my recent dresser, where I freehand painted a flower-scape, I realized I was being silly and told myself – Girl, pick up that brush!
And so, before my newfound burst of courage would have a chance to retreat back into hiding, I immediately ran to the nearest craft store and purchased a canvas.
Materials List:
- Drop Cloth
- Burlap
- Stormy Seas
- Terracotta
- Muscadine Wine
- Collard Greens
- Farmhouse Green
- Coffee Bean
- Chocolate
- Mud Puddle
- Gold Digger (Moonshine Metallic)
- Dixie Belle Mud in White to create the raised stencil
How To:
The canvas slightly varies from the dresser, which was intentional. On the dresser, I did a straight base of Buttercream, rather than a blend of Drop Cloth and Burlap like on the canvas.
I also learned painting on canvas rather than the smooth substrate of furniture is quite different. In the future, I will remember that nugget of info and apply accordingly. Yes, I said in the future. Canvases everywhere, I’m coming for you!
