Hey everyone, It’s Tracey from Traceys Fancy! Painted denim jackets are a new thing for me! After years of painting denim overalls, I’ve transitioned to the jackets by request. I actually prefer the painted denim jackets as the art seems easier to feature as the main focus on the back panel. Let’s get started, get your jacket/jeans/overalls to practice on!

Materials List:
- Fine Mister Bottle
- Easy Peasy Spray Wax
- Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint
- Artist Brushes 1/8 inch
- Permanent Marker
- Oil Based Paint Marker
How To Paint a Denim Jacket:
Step 1: Flatten the denim and lay out artwork design
First, lay the fabric out flat. Trace over your design in a permanent marker, then spray the fabric lightly with water before painting.

Step 2: Mist the fabric and paint in thin layers to soak in
Second, begin painting with thin layers, keep the denim slightly wet with a mister bottle. If preferred, outline the finished painting with a paint pen.
Step 3: Seal with Easy Peasy Spray wax for softness, iron to set
Third, seal with Easy Peasy Spray Wax. Once dry, cover with a damp washcloth and iron to heat set paint pen.

Step 4: DO NOT WASH! (for 30 days)
Lastly, do not wash for 30 days. After 30 days, wash in cold water on a gentle cycle and hang dry.
