Hey everyone, Crys’Dawna from Bella Renovare here!

Learn how to create texture easily with a roller! Creating texture is one of my favorite things to do.

Okay so I didn’t choose my base coat or main color, my son did. He is three, he chose Barn Red and I must say it was a GREAT choice!! This color is bright but has a depth and dimension to it that scream to my BOHO love of color.

How to Create Texture

Sea Spray and paint is what I used to create my texture medium. I mixed three colors Colonel Mustard, Pure Ocean, and Limeade with a small amount of Holy Guacamole to darken it a little. I then mixed all three in separate cups to a brownie-like batter consistency. You will want to almost “paint spread” the texture along your surface. Do NOT put too much, maybe a few centimeters otherwise if it is too thick it will crack.

Once I had my texture medium on the drawers, I rolled it.

Once you have allowed the texture medium to dry, it is time for one more coat of barn red. As a result, you will get peek-a-boo color popping through after the next step. Do not stress about getting full coverage with this layer.

How to Create Texture

Once you have put your layer of paint over the texture and allowed it to dry, it’s time to distress. Now I used my Surf Prep sander with a fine sanding pad. You could use a sanding block if you prefer. To seal the final product, I used Easy Peasy Spray Wax. It is easy to use and gives me the matte finish I like for boho pieces.
