Do I need to apply wax after using your mineral paints like I would with chalk paint? If I want a more glossy finish, what Dixie Bell product would I use say on a dresser?
Hi Jule! Chalk mineral paint has a beautiful, matte finish. You do not have to put a top coat on it, but you can if you’re interested in creating a different look and feel on the finished piece. Waxing is not required with our paint but can be used to add depth and dimension. If you would like to add a glossy finish, we recommend using Clear Coat in Satin. Happy painting! 🙂
I have a wine barrel that I stained a beautiful almost like a dark cherry. I bought one of your big flower transfers to put on it. I am a real life newbie, like this will be my 1st pieces. So my question is after I apply it do I need some type of sealant over it? Thank You, Janice Smith
Hi Janice, welcome to the Dixie Belle Paint family! We’re so excited for your first project! We recommend using Gator Hide after for a water repellent durable finish. Happy painting! 🙂
How do you seal the transfer? I plan to paint a project in silk paint then add a transfer. Should I just seal with Dixie Belle clear coat?
Hi Lisa! Yes, we recommend using Satin Clear Coat 🙂
