How To Paint a Glazed Ceramic Pumpkin:

Step 1: Clean and prepare the surface

To begin the process, you will need to thoroughly clean the ceramic pumpkin. I employed a combination of warm water and soap to ensure a thorough and effective washing. Dixie Belle’s White Lightning is another great way to clean prior to painting.

Step 2: Apply bonding primer

Following the cleaning, your next step entails the  application of an evenly distributed coat of [updated] Bonding BOSS onto the surface of the pumpkin. This will ensure comprehensive coverage.

Step 3: Dry completely

I then proceeded to apply an extra layer of Slick Stick (updated: Bonding BOSS) onto the ceramic pumpkin, allowing for a drying duration of 24 hours before initiating the rest of the painting process.

Step 4: Add your first paint layer

Once dry, I added a layer of the Prairie Dawn Terra Clay Paint from Dixie Belle. Use patience here to allow time for the initial coat of Terra paint to  a dry no less than 2 hours before you add additional layers.

Step 5: Seal with a clear coat

Optional: As a precautionary measure to preserve the surface, I applied a Clear Top Coat in Satin for its protective qualities.

At White Lilac Farm, we’ve now transformed a ceramic pumpkin into a matching decor item. Dixie Belle’s products, notably BOSS  and Clear Top Coat in Satin, played a crucial role.

From cleansing to coating, the process was a lot of fun! White Lilac Farm appreciates Dixie Belle’s commitment to high-quality, user-friendly products.

Our ceramic pumpkin now matches our aesthetic. Whether an experienced or an aspiring artist, Dixie Belle has a project for any of your artistic visions. We hope that this journey inspires your creative projects. Happy painting from White Lilac Farm!

Until next time,
