Hi everyone, Denise from Salvaged Inspirations here!
Have you used Gilding Wax before? This easy peasy product is perfect for highlighting the details of a piece!
Dixie Belle Paint Products:
- DBP Synthetic Paint Brushes
- In The Navy Chalk Mineral Paint
- Somewhere In France Transfer
- Warm Gold Gilding Wax
- No Pain Gel Stain in Espresso
- Best Dang Wax in Clear
- Gator Hide
I painted this estate sale tallboy dresser with the gorgeous In the Navy. Check out the contrast between this rich blue-black In The Navy and the Somewhere In France furniture transfer!
To tie everything in, I used this Warm Gold Gilding Wax to freshen up the hardware and also fill in the line details in the drawers.
It was really easy to stay in the lines by applying the gilding wax with a small paint brush. The gold gilding wax in the routered detail creates a ‘frame’ around the transfer to keep it the focal point.
To complete this tallboy’s French makeover, I stained the top with this rich Espresso Gel Stain. If you’re looking for a dark warm stain without a lot of red undertones, this Espresso is perfect.

How to Use Gilding Wax:
1 Apply Gilding Wax with your finger, cloth, sponge, or brush.
2 Let the wax dry for 30-60 minutes.
3 Lightly buff after 12 hours to produce a beautiful gilded finish.
Please Note – Use Gilding Wax in a well-ventilated area.
Did you know – If the lid if left off and the material becomes dry, add a little paint thinner or mineral spirits and mix.
I have used Dixie Belle Gliding wax on antique trunks when I want to highlight the hardware.
That is such a great idea, Mike! Thanks so much for being in our DBP family! Happy painting! 🙂
