Does your farmhouse style table need a makeover?
I updated this table and chair set with Dixie Belle Paint products!
Dixie Belle Paint Products:
- White Lightning
- Easy Peasy Spray Wax
- Driftwood
- Best Dang Wax in White & Black
- Blue Sponge
- Gator Hide
How To:
After cleaning the set, I added colored wax for a stained wood look. With a paintbrush, I applied the black wax over the wood farm table and chair tops.
After the application, I wiped the remaining wax away with a soft cloth to create a dark wood tone. Allow the wax to fully dry (24 hours) before applying the second color.
The look I was going for on this table top was a bit of a weather gray look. Using the black wax and the white wax, I mixed the two together in a plastic bowl to create a beautiful gray wax.
To seal the tops of the farm table and chairs, I allowed the wax to fully cure before applying Gator Hide for a water repellent finish. The one thing you must remember is that you need to allow the wax to fully cure before applying the top coat.
One coat of the Driftwood covered the base of the chairs and farm table like a champ! One coat coverage is unheard of and most of my projects require two. I’m super happy about this! Especially because I strongly dislike painting chairs.
This was a huge project but the results were so worth the effort. To read more about this farmhouse set, click here!
I have my old farm table on my house, just planning to repaint it because it looks like the paint was brittle, and starting to remove itself from the wood. I’m looking for some good idea how to do it on my own, and it happens that I visit here, and read those tips you post on your blog. It was a big helped to me now I start it with my own, thanks for the procedure and material you share in your post.
We’re happy to help, Paul! Happy painting! ?
