Material List:

Step 1: Sand and Clean

Firstly, these chairs had a really bad previous paint job so we need to prep them for paint! I started by sanding them with medium grit sandpaper in hopes that this will remove all those previous errors. I then cleaned the chairs and table with Pristine Clean and added wood glue on some of the chair legs to reinforce them just in case. Pristine Clean is a great cleaner that is curated for the Silk Mineral Paint line from Dixie Belle.

Step 2: Prime

Secondly, I found the perfect table for these chairs but one of the legs was a little wobbly so I added some wood glue with some dowels and let it dry overnight. After the wood glue had dried completely, I gave the top and legs a good sanding. I chose the Silk All-In-One Mineral Paint line because it has a primer and topcoat built in, but since the chairs were a chalky mess I decided to prime them and the table with BOSS from Dixie Belle. I chose the white shade of BOSS because I will be using a lighter paint shade over it, this will help keep things bright. Then I added some floral appliques onto the back of each chair for a more girly touch.

Step 3: Get Painting!

Thirdly, now it is time to paint! I painted the chairs and painted over the floral appliques with Conch Silk Mineral Paint. Conch is a soft pink shade, which I thought would be perfect for these chairs. For the table, I looked at all of the white shades in the Silk Mineral Paint line, after experimenting I decided to go with Salt Water Silk Mineral Paint. I gave the table a few light coats with this neutral shade and let it dry overnight.

Step 4: Apply Your Transfer And Touch Of Details

Next, I divided the table into four square sections by marking them lightly with a pencil. I placed each transfer sheet where I made those marks and then used the tool to burnish the design until it had adhered. I cleaned up the edges of the transfer by running a razor blade on each side of the table. Then I decided to add some Silver Gilding Wax to the floral appliques, I dipped my finger in the Wax and outlined all of the fine details to add a little shimmer.

Step 5: Seal Your Creation

Finally, I want these tables and chairs to hold up against everything, so I decided to add a thin coat of Gator Hide. Usually, Silk Mineral Paint does not require an extra topcoat but this table and chairs needed an extra layer of protection. Gator Hide is Dixie Belle’s toughest topcoat yet!
