I saw this dresser as a blank canvas, so I knew this would be the perfect piece to try out a transfer. Transfers are beautiful artwork on a larger scale that you can “tranfer” onto your furniture. They are easy to use and can add so much beauty and transform any furniture.

Step One:

I first cleaned this piece with White Lightning. Then applied BOSS in White.

Step Two:

After this, I put some random sections of Kudzu and Vintage Duck Egg to peek through once distressed.

Step Three:

The whole piece was painted with Drop Cloth and sealed with Satin Clear Coat.

Step Four:

The top wood was too beautiful to cover up. I sanded it back and stained it with Voodoo Gel Stain in Up In Smoke. I then sealed it with Gator Hide.

Update: check out our new and improved Gator Hide for chalk mineral paint.  If you’re using our Silk all-in-one chalk mineral paint line with its built in primer and top coat, we’ve created Extra Coat for extra strength!

Step Five:

I used a furniture transfer to give this piece the perfect spring feeling. I’m in love! Our transers are easy to use – peel off the plastic backing, position the transfer where you want it, and gently rub it onto your piece. Check out our YouTube video for more on how to use transfers.
