Hobby Lobby- Sign Hack!
Hey, everybody! It’s Tracey from Tracey’s Fancy here! I’m going to show you how to create a DIY sign using a helpful hack!
Materials:
- Tea Rose Chalk Mineral Paint
- Saltwater Silk All-In-One Mineral Paint
- Collard Greens Chalk Mineral Paint
- BOSS in White
- BOSS in Gray
- White Chalk
- Ruler
- Top Coat in Flat
- Chip Brush
- Fine Mister Spray Bottle
- Artist Brushes
How To:
Step 1:
First, prime the sign with white BOSS and add a coat of gray BOSS after the first coat dries. (The extra coat is to make sure the previous lettering was blocked out.)
Step 2:
After, once the BOSS dries, cover with 1 coat of Tea Rose.
Step 3:
Next, introduce Collard Greens around the edges using the mister bottle and a stippling blending technique.
Step 4:
Then, I used a ruler to draw lines with my chalk so the name stays straight on the sign. Draw the name and then draw the flowers!
Step 5:
After that, use Saltwater to trace the name onto the sign with a small angled brush. Paint each flower with the Saltwater as well.
Step 6: (optional)
I chose to add more color to the flowers by using a very watered-down version of Marigold, Terracotta, and a deep green hue.
Step 7:
Seal your sign with Top Coat in Flat, and enjoy your piece!
