Hi everyone! It’s Brandy from Brushed by Brandy! This emerald finish was inspired by the Magnolia Garden Transfer and magnolia tree leaves! Let’s get started!
- White Lightning
- A custom mix of Dixie Belle Paint in Palmetto, Antebellum Blue, and Midnight Sky. French Linen for highlight.
- Gold Gilding Wax
- Magnolia Garden Transfer
- Best Dang Wax in Black
- Flat Clear Coat
- Big Mamas Butta
These chests are some of my favorites to work on. They are the perfect size and multi-functional. First, I started this piece with a thorough cleaning with White Lightning. Then, I used a coat of Dixie Belle Boss in clear to prevent any bleed through in my paint.
The top and legs are going to stay a natural wood, so I sanded those down.
Next, I’m using a custom mixed paint color. The largest portion is Palmetto, tinted with a bit of Antebellum Blue and Midnight Sky. We’ll call this color Juniper.
I blended my Juniper mix using Midnight Sky for shading and the tiniest bit of French Linen for a highlight.
This is a beautiful paint finish on its own, but I wove through the Magnolia Garden Transfer in a crescent shape, vining up one side.
