Hi everyone! It’s Tammy from Rustic Orchard Home! Making a quick and easy fall themed front porch sign is a great way to say “Hello Fall”! Today, I’m going to show you how to make a Fall Porch Leaner! All you need to do is paint and attach everything to the surface board. Let me show you how I made mine extra festive with the Limited Edition Fall Colors from Dixie Belle Paint!
Materials List:
- Wood Plank
- Wood Letters and Pumpkins
- Cashmere
- Pumpkin Spice
- Merlot
- Juniper
- Paint Brushes
- Super Glue
How To:
Step 1:
To begin, I used the the color Cashmere to add a base coat to all of the cutout pieces. This basecoat will help give my piece the watercolor type look I want to achieve once everything is dry. I added the Cashmere color using a makeup sponge. When using a sponge for painting, use up and down pouncing motions to apply thin layers.
Step 2:
Once the basecoat of Cashmere is dry, you’re ready to start adding more colors to the pumpkin cutouts and the word “hello”. Add the paint colors you’ll be using to a plate and then add a bit of water to each color. The water will thin out the paint to help us get the watercolor look. I used the color Pumpkin Spice first, then blended to deepen the color with the Merlot. Just play with it and add layers until you get the color you like.
Step 3:
Next, I used the color Juniper to add the stem details to the pumpkins. I did not water down this color because I wanted full coverage.
