We’re thrilled to welcome Lee Ann from Creative Moments for today’s guest blog! Lee Ann has a true talent for breathing new life into forgotten treasures, and in this project, she transforms a worn-out wooden box into a beautiful floral masterpiece. Using Dixie Belle’s rich English Ivy Chalk Mineral Paint and the delicate floral design of the Autumn Morning transfer, Lee Ann takes us through the steps to give any outdated piece a fresh, vibrant look.

Autumn is upon us, friends! As soon as my friend gave me this lovely box, I knew it needed a floral makeover. The newly released Autumn Morning transfer from Dixie Belle pairs beautifully with the rich green of English Ivy Chalk Mineral Paint, creating a stunning transformation. What do you think of the fresh new look?

Step 1: Gather supplies

I originally picked 3 colors to blend with this transfer and grabbed some synthetic brushes too.

Step 2: Paint

By removing the hardware first, the painting process became much easier and resulted in a more professional finish.

I started by brushing on English Ivy Dixie Belle Paint. Then, I chose to skip blending and went for an aged look, pairing the rich dark green with fall florals instead.

Step 3: Apply transfer

The autumn florals were carefully cut out and placed in their perfect spots. After deciding on the placement, the backing was removed, the transfer pressed into place, and rubbed with the included stick while peeling away the top plastic.

Step 4: Reattach hardware

The hardware was then put back in place.

This is the progress so far, very pretty.

Step 5: Apply Wax

I used my dedicated Best Dang Brush to apply clear Best Dang Wax over the paint and transfers, sealing everything in place.

Using an Artist Brush , I brushed and blended brown wax around the flower edges, which created an aged appearance.

I added a bit of shimmer by applying bronze Gilding Wax to the edges with my fingertip.

Here’s all I used to create this pretty update.
