How to Paint with Drop Cloth

This lovely antique buffet received a total makeover!

Dixie Belle Paint Products:

Wonderful White Paint:

Fluff is a serene, soft white with a slight gray undertone. Use Fluff for traditional or modern style projects.

You can also pair this paint color with a dark wax or glaze to create distressed farmhouse furniture. Fluff is a crisp color, perfect for any room in your home!

Drop Cloth is a stylish linen white with a touch of warmth. This stunning color is our most popular because its perfect for any palette!

Whether it’s in your living room or kitchen, use Drop Cloth to create a comfortable space. This neutral color is an easy way to refresh your home.

How To:

Step One:

The loose veneer was stripped away and the entire piece had to be sanded down, but finally after lots of prep it was ready for a bright, fresh new look.

Step Two:

The buffet was hand painted in high quality Dixie Belle chalk mineral paint starting with a base of Drop Cloth, the perfect off white.

Step Three:

I then blended in highlights of Fluff and shaded using Gravel Road.

Step Four:

The lovely trim details were glazed using Dixie Belle’s Best Dang Wax in Brown to add some extra dimension.

Step Five:

Last but not least it was sealed with their Clear Coat in Satin for some extra protection and shine!

This has been so helpful! I wondered which brushes you used for each of the processes? Thanks!!! I’m inspired and want to place an order once I know everything I need.

    1. Dixie Belle Paint Company says:

Hi Sandi, we’re so glad you’re enjoyed this post! We recommend getting the Dixie Belle synthetic brushes for blending. The flat medium and mini are our most popular. Check them out here: It depends on personal preference, but many painters use a different brush for each color and then a separate brush for blending the colors together. Hope this helps. Happy painting! 🙂

Very nice staging. Keeping it simple doesn't detract from the piece. Not to mention the awesome mirror reflection- no small feat.Nice work Captiva Home - Furniture Painting

Gorgeous 💕

Merry Christmas to you and your family, from me in outback Australia hope you enjoy your time together. Please set aside some prayers for us out here, we are in severe drought and the country seems to be on fire. thank you, you are a huge inspiration for me XXX🙏🙏🙏

Incredible how you can pick up a paintbrush freehand and your artwork looks like a billion dollar piece of art ...The Lord has blessed you with such a beautiful talent ♥️ This piece is a big winner !!!! Great work , Carolyn

Coffee Bean is a great color. I used it as a wash with two other Dixie Belle paints on a table top. I always get questions as to how many colors of stain I used to achieve the look. It really looks stained, not painted.

Amazing brushes and excellent quality paint!

So glad you didn’t give up on it! I love that you made it a story for each panel. Great job Bethany!

Trying all different styles atm, I was always French country, French Provincial. I am about to try an image transfer as you continue to inspire me with your amazing pieces.

Wishing you and all of your family a very Merry Christmas. God bless you and your family. Prayers continuing for all of you.

That color completely ties it all together for me, looks amazing.

Blended coastal colors & farmhouse neutrals are my favorites.
