How to Paint a Plaid Chest

Hey, Brandy from Brushed by Brandy here! Let’s learn how to paint a plaid gentleman’s chest!

Dixie Belle Paint Products:
How To:

These 3 drawer chests are some of my favorite to work on. Their classic style and moderate size makes them great for just about any space.

An entry way, a sofa table, a media center, or accent piece, I pick them up every time. This piece was solid mahogany, well made, and hepplewhite pulls to boot!

The first step on this piece was to clean well with Dixie Belle White Lightning, sand smooth any damaged areas, and apply a coat of Dixie Belle BOSS to block odors, stains, and stop bleed thru.

Check out a video about the cleaning process here!

This piece got two coats of sultry black Dixie Belle Caviar. On the sides I blended in a bit of Palmetto to tie in with the greens from my inspiration paper.

Watch this tutorial video below!

The next step really brings our look together, applying the decorative paper to the drawer fronts.

Finishing touches can make or break a piece. They really show the quality of the finishes and attention to detail that leaves an impression.

My finishing touches included waxing the drawer glides, applying Copper Gilding Wax to the legs, and sealing everything with Gator Hide.

With these crowning jewels, my piece is complete!

Hi Melissa! And Dixie Belle!

The best part of gold leaf is dusting it off and watching it flurry away 😍

Do you seal over the gilding wax when finished?

I wish everyone would put what paints and top coats they have used. I know it would make a difference and people like me, would buy more paint to get that particular look.

Gorgeous !!!

So lovely

Good job with staging, Paint Fixation
