Let’s Get Started! Step One:
White Lightning
Use this first to clean your projects prior to painting.
White Lightning will de-grease and remove all debris from your furniture, kitchen cabinets or whatever you want to paint. It will prep your piece and help you achieve the best outcome for your painted masterpiece.

Assess the need for BOSS or Slick Stick.
Slick Stick
This product allows you to paint shiny, slick, or slippery surfaces with ease! Surfaces like PVC, glass, Formica, laminate, metal, and more are easily painted and stay painted. This product will easily allow the paint to adhere to the surface!

BOSS
Blocks Odors, Stains, Stops Bleed thru!
It contains odor eliminating and stain blocking technology for exceptional coverage. BOSS prevents bleed thru of wood tannins and varnishes, allowing you to transform any piece to a crisp, light color with ease. This product will completely mask odors on old furniture that may have been exposed to smoke, pets, or other circumstances that contribute to odors.

Time to Paint! Step Two:
Painting with Dixie Belle Paint will be the easiest and most enjoyable painting you will ever do. Choose from 64 amazing colors!
Be sure to start with a damp brush.
Once you’ve dipped your brush in the jar, remove the excess and apply evenly to your project.
Dixie Belle Paint goes a long way!
Get your desired consistency by leaving the lid off to allow the paint to thicken up or add water to thin it out.
Most pieces will take one to two coats for full coverage.
Dixie Belle Paint is self-leveling, so brushstrokes will melt away!

I want to like to paint a black wood cabinet. Will it cover in 2 coats? Would it work for painting black woodwork and a door?
Hi Sandra, our lighter colors will cover in two coats but many colors only need one. Be sure to clean well with White Lightning first. If you are concerned about bleed thru on the wood, you can use BOSS before painting. Hope this helps. Happy painting! 🙂
Is this paint just for furniture? Could it be used with stencils?

I am painting an old table that had a rough surface. IMs not sure how to make the paint look smoother and whether I should use the clear coat or the wax on top to make it smoother.
Hi Laura, if the surface is super rough you can sand it down a bit with our sanding sponge. After you paint, you can definitely add Clear Coat or Best Dang Wax. Hopefully this helps! Happy painting!

I have a FL park home. I’d like to paint the cabinets, and I know I need to clean them with White Lightening. My question is weather the humidity in the bathroom because of the climate and taking showers will cause it to peel. Thank you!
Hi Annette, yes always clean first with White Lightning! We recommend finishing up your cabinets with Gator Hide for a water repellent, durable finish. The cabinets should be fine in the bathroom with Gator Hide. Hope this helps! Happy painting! 🙂

I have painted my bedroom dresser with your Aubergine chalk mineral paint, it’s Will-have myTV on it and used for clothes should I use a clear coat to protect it? Also am thinking of staining the top and the design on the bottom drawer with the espresso is it best to use clear over the stain also? I can send photos to give you a idea.

I have a bedroom set that is laminate stained and I would like to darken it to an expresso stain look. What is the easiest no fail method ? Thought maybe expresso or coffee bean wash on it Suggestions

If you don’t want to use Espresso No Pain Gel Stain, you can definitely create a wash with Coffee Bean paint by watering it down. Hope this helps, happy painting!
Can I paint outdoor metal railing with dixie belle paint?
Can you use the Dixie Belle blue sponge to apply/buff wax?
Hi Chasity we do not recommend using the blue sponge for wax. We generally recommend to use a lint-free cloth to apply and buff!
Hi! I am thinking of painting my piece and then adding a transfer- do you recommend sealing the transfer with Gator Hide?
Hello Jennifer, you can seal transfers with Gator Hide or any Clear Coat!
Can you use Dixie dirt with other Dixie Belle products besides clear wax?
Hi Ashley, we generally do not recommend using Dixie Dirt with other products as liquid products may make the dirt melt and remove its texture property. Clear wax is the best adhesive because it sticks to it while retaining its powdery form.
Can you paint MDF with this paint without the wood bubbling? I have a desk that had the laminate removed and I sanded off all of the pinkish/red glue that they used. Now I’m down to the bare MDF, but I know liquids can damage it. Thanks!
Hi Beth, you should be able to paint it without a problem! Try testing in a small area to see how the wood reacts first if it makes you feel more comfortable.
Can you use this paint on marble/stone? I have a marble like top on a table.
Yes you can Amanda! We would recommend using Slick Stick after cleaning the surface to allow the paint to better adhere.
I am wanting to transform a dresser into a tv console. After I clean and paint what do I use after? Clear sealer, wax, butta or gator hide? I am also going to stain the top in espresso and had read I should use gator hide. What should I seal the rest of the dresser with???

You can seal the rest of the dresser in just our regular clear coats in whichever kind you’d like!
I have a very old poplar hutch that needs a new life. I’m thinking paint the inside white, the outside doors and drawers vintage duck, and stain the “frame” walnut. I figure that I should paint the inside shelving first but I’m stuck on the next steps – paint then stain OR stain then paint…How do you recommend I go about this?

Which ever way you choose, either way will work! The stain does take a while longer to dry, so I would recommend you stain first and then allow that to dry a full 72hrs to fully cure and then to paint!

Planning to redo a French provincial desk for my grandson. Should we strip it first? He wants it to look more like wood so I am thinking of using either mud puddle or chocolate paint with a darker wax finish. Would this give it a “wood” look?

Sounds like a great project! You can do a full sand or even a light sand, it’s pretty much what you guys would like best. If you don’t want to stain and want to paint but still give it that wood look, we have a wood grain tool that all you have to do is run that through the paint and it gives that faux wood look!

What is the best applicator for clear coat. A brush, sponge, roller or some else?
Hi Pamela! It is personal preference ? You can use a brush or our blue sponge. If you use a roller, we’d recommend a high density foam roller.
